The accident near Utica and Church Avenues in Brooklyn happened around 6:50 p.m. on Saturday.

At least 10 people were injured, including a mother and her baby, when a car ran up on a sidewalk and rammed through a bus stop in Brooklyn on Saturday, the authorities said.

The mother and her baby, who were not identified, were in “very critical” condition, a police spokesman said.

The police said the car was driving north on Utica Avenue close to the intersection with Church Avenue around 6:50 p.m. when it swerved to avoid hitting another car sitting in traffic, the police said. The car drove through a bus pavilion and then into some scaffolding, the police said.

The driver of the vehicle and her nephew suffered minor injuries, as did at least six other pedestrians, the police said. There was no immediate information about charges.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say nearly 50 detectives are canvassing a neighborhood for clues in the abduction of a 10-year-old girl who vanished from her bedroom this week and was found hours later miles from home.

Police are seeking two men who apparently took the girl from her home after 1 a.m. Wednesday and drove her around the San Fernando Valley. She was found that afternoon after being dropped off near a hospital.

Police officials have publicly said the girl had bruises and scratches and was in shock when she was found. The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/XKLN6P ) reports that law enforcement sources say she was sexually assaulted.

Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese says detectives are working around the clock on the case.

The Associated Press does not identify victims of sexual assault.

Two men have died following a police chase in north London.

The pair were killed after their Audi jumped a red light, clipped a van and collided with a bridge in South Tottenham in the early hours of Friday, police said.

The car’s 30-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

The dead men, aged in their late 20s or early 30s, have not been identified.

They died after officers on routine patrol became suspicious of the Audi, which appeared to make-off at speed when it was driven past police just before 02:00 GMT, officers said.

Dead at scene

After several minutes searching for the car, which had been travelling in the opposite direction, police spotted the vehicle several hundred yards away and sought to catch up.

The Audi was driven through a red light before it hit the white van and then crashed into the bridge.

“Officers gave CPR prior to the arrival of ambulances, but both were pronounced dead at the scene,” a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The driver of the Audi was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

The driver of the white van was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
