FILES -- A Toronto police car seen on Friday, September 21, 2012.

Toronto police say a Scarborough man faces two first-degree murder charges in the deaths of his parents.

Investigators say the bodies of two people were discovered in a home on Huntsmill Boulevard near Warden and Steeles on Easter Sunday.

“It was a family issue,” Det. Sgt. Dean Burks of Toronto Police homicide squad said on Sunday. The victims were identified as the man’s 58-year-old father and 51-year-old mother.

Police say the home was owned by the deceased couple, and that the son, who as far as they know wasn’t working or in school, lived with his parents. Three tenants also lived in the home.

On Sunday, police said the victims had been identified, but wouldn’t be released until relatives overseas could be notified.

The cousin of the suspect called 911 from a pay phone on Sunday morning.
